WHAT IS FEMINISM AND WHAT IS NOT?

Feminist thought, which has been struggling for years for women to have equal rights with men and to get rid of the oppression they are exposed to in social life, is among the most misunderstood currents of our time. In our country, the difficulties faced by women in social life, family and business life are obvious. Our country, which is one of the places where women are given the right to vote and to be elected first, unfortunately ranks at the bottom of the rankings regarding women's rights.

Feminism is not male hostility or female supremacy. It is a national concept against patriarchal order. He argues that women and men are equal in all areas of life, that a woman and a man can practice the same profession, and that both should have the same rights and freedoms under these conditions. Although feminists are tried to be portrayed as only women, there are also many men who argue that women should have equal rights today. Together, these people are resisting the inequalities and harassment that women are subjected to in courts, courts of justice, workplaces, schools or factories.

It is no accident that feminism is misunderstood in various societies. Throughout history, governments have distorted and did not want feminism. The fact that the governments oppose feminism and choose the way of humiliation is actually an effort not to lose power. Male domination has been legitimate in societies for a very long time, and the loss of this dominance worries many governments. I see these as the most important reason for the misrepresentation of the feminist struggle. I would like to conclude my article with a quote that I love very much, by the French writer Simone de Beauvoir, one of the pioneers of the feminist movement. “Women who seemed to have managed to plan every detail in their lives used to intimidate me a little. “
